Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. In 2011, Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver is a symbol of the state for people worldwide. You meet people in other countries, like New Zealanders, and they say "I am Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" And they instantly react with "Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time with small folk groups. The song was composed with Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the song, but Denver recognized that the song could turn into a hit once it was discovered that an earlier version.
